The Wedding Planner gets married!

On June 3, 2007, I enjoyed my own destination wedding to Todd Werder in Islamorada, Florida. After a couple days of tropical storm Barry, the weather cleared up and as you can see we had a beautiful clear day at the beach. One of the best things about a destination wedding is being able to spend the whole weekend with close family and friends. We greeted our guests with mini-beach bag welcome bags that included hand-held fans, flip-flop shaped candy, home-made cookies baked by my Aunt Carol.

When the wedding planner plans her own wedding, they get a lot of questions. Here's my wedding FAQ -
  • Was it easier or more difficult to plan your own wedding? In terms of making decisions, it was easy. I've seen so many weddings, that I knew what, where, when and how and it was pretty easy to pull together. What was difficult was letting my assistant take over the day-of the wedding so that I could enjoy myself. But I had to take the advice I give my brides, and let someone else do the worrying so I could enjoy myself -- and I did!

  • Did you have a theme? Color Scheme? I enhanced the natural setting with a conch shell theme using conch shell centerpieces and monograms. I also incorporated the adirondack chairs that accent Morada Bay Cafe and used them for my invitations, cake and escort cards. My primary color was turquoise to play off the ocean with orange and fuschia accents.

  • What were your favorite details? I loved my cake -- the color, design and the flavors! Each tier had a yellow and chocolate layer with raspberry mousse filling and a key lime buttercream icing. It rocked! You've got to love a cake from a bakery called "Bob's Bunz!" I loved everything else as well -- from the centerpieces, my bouqet, the escort cards, fans & hats for the guests, and special chair sashes with our names on them.

  • What was the highlight or "wow factor"? My arrival was by a floating pink caddilac -- yes a car shaped boat! I kept this a secret from all the guests - even my groom was surprised! Capt. Joe and his Nautilimo were a bit hit!

I'll have some more photos and details coming soon when I post my own wedding under Weddings by No Worries. You can also take a look at my photographer Shari Bare's blog for more photos.

Relaxing at the Spa!

This weekend, I had a small beach wedding at the Marco Island Marriott. Since it was a simple set-up, I figured I'd take advantage of the day on Marco by spending time at the Marriott's Spa. My husband and I indulged in massages and enjoyed some time by the Spa pool until we headed over to the beach in time to preside over Tia & Richard's beach wedding.
Every bride should consider budgeting some pampering funds to help them relax before their wedding. And if you're getting married on or near Marco Island, the Balinese style spa at the Marriott is phenomenal!
Thank you to Laura, Kaylene and Tricia at the Marco Island Marriott Spa and look for photos and more on Tia & Richard's wedding coming soon!

Slowly but surely, I am getting these weddings added to the blog! Check out some of the new weddings linked under "Weddings by No Worries." Enjoy!

No Worries in the News!!

Yesterday, the front page of the business section of The Naples Daily News showcased my bride & groom, Heidi & Nick from No Worries' June 16 wedding. The glowing bride and handsome groom created a beautiful backdrop for an article on destination weddings in Naples.

The business editor for The Naples Daily News, Laura Layden, had contacted me for comments for her article and asked if I had a bride who she could speak with. This was just a few days before Heidi & Nick's wedding and they graciously agreed to be interviewed and showcased in the paper. (I wasn't sure if this would add extra excitement or extra stress but Heidi was a doll to agree! Since her wedding was on my birthday, I told her this could be her present to me. : - )

Right above the large photo of the Bride & Groom, you'll see a photo of The Edgewater Beach Hotel and me setting up the wedding. Yes, that dot near the front of the tent, it's me - I swear!

Anyway, Thank you Heidi & Nick!! You looked great on Page One!
